Mongo Management Studio is the best way to work with MongoDB on a simple manner. The slim and elegant graphical interface can effectively perform the typical MongoDB commands without having to use the Mongo shell command line. There are two different versions of Mongo Management Studio, which do not distinguish in range of functions.
Local Professional
The local variant is aimed primarily at developers. It is easily installed via setup routine and requires no additional software installations.
Enterprise Professional
The Enterprise version is intended for productive environments in which databases are not directly accessible via the Internet. This is a node.js web application, that can be installed on a server without a graphical interface. Access to this application can be controlled by a rights system.
Additionally each variant has a free version (Lokal Community and Server Community). The following features are missing:
- Aggregation framework queries
- Edit of GridFS collections
- User management of the der MongoDB users
- JSON schema validation
